Once a beautiful tune has been heard, it takes on a new life in the memory and becomes an eternal possession.
The stage is set for the ninth Gloger festival. This year we have sought to increase the combination of music with visual images, thereby stimulating your imagination and passions through the sense of sight as well as hearing. We believe this will help you to find all human feeling and experience reflected in the colourful harmony of the music.The colour palette is rich and varied for the coming festival. In the midst of our dark winter, the Swedish court florist Clæs Karlsson provides a bright and beautiful visual accompaniment and background to the music in our floral concert. We also invite the whole family to "Magical theatre" - a colourful extravaganza in which music gives birth to theatre. Dancers from the Norwegian National Ballet will demonstrate the intense visual expressiveness of the human body. And we celebrate the 200th birthday of the colourful Norwegian virtuoso violinist Ole Bull, Norway’s first “popstar”
In a festival whose major themes are colour and visual expression, we could hardly fail to invite you to the opera. Therefore the finale of this year’s festival will be a performance of Alessandro Scarlatti's dramatic Oratorio “Il primo omicidio” from 1707, which dramatizes the Biblical story of Cain and Abel. For this concert the church in Kongsberg will be transformed into a grand Italian opera house.
This year, as always, the renowned singers, musicians, and orchestras performing at the Gloger Festival will do their best to delight the audience and warm their hearts on these cold winter nights with beautiful music.
