Olof Boman completed his studies in orchestral conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 1999 since when he has established himself as one of Sweden's most interesting young conductors. Olof has a great interest in 18th century music and has studied harpsichord of both the Baroque and classical eras. This interest has led to intensive collaborations with a number of Baroque orchestras, and in September 2006 Boman made a remarkable impression at the Bach Festival in Köthen as a stand-in for René Jacobs with the orchestra of the Akademie für Alte Musik, Berlin. Olof Boman has performed as visiting conductor with many of Sweden's orchestras, including orchestras in Norrköping and Gothenburg. He has also conducted many of Europe's best choirs, including the Swedish Radiokören, the NDR-Choir in Hamburg, and the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin. Boman has a close relationship with Vocalconsort Berlin, and he conducted the premier of Frank Schwemmers opera Medea-Stimmen with this internationally successful ensemble. Boman's great knowledge of and interest in vocal music has made him a sought-after opera conductor, and he has been Musical Director for several opera productions both in Sweden and abroad. In the summer of 2008, Boman directed the critically acclaimed production of the operas of Florian Leopold Gassman at the Drottningholm Palace Theater. In the 2009-2010 season he conducts a series of concerts in Scandinavia and Germany, among them the opera Philemon und Baucis by Joseph Haydn at the Festival in Potsdam, Acis and Galatea by George Frideric Händel (with the Oslo Baroque Opera), and Monteverdi's Orpheus in Hannover. Olof Boman is one of the Artistic Directors of the Gloger Festival.
